Prepping The Database

The switchover to the new code is picking up steam around here, and I am just about ready to test the moving of the data in the database from the old system to the new one. That means that, once the bugs are ironed out of that process, all that will be left is finishing up the layout and testing it out before we go live.

Since we are so close, I have a couple of things I would like some help with:

  1. Does anyone out there have a good working knowledge of the MySQL database, particularly with regards to large data migrations? If so, and if you are willing to answer a few questions about doing the ETL of the data, let me know.
  2. I need people who are willing to test out the new site and write bug reports once it is ready to be tested. No special knowledge is necessary to do so, just an ability to use the site as it stands now, and the willingness to play with a potentially buggy (new) website. Bonus points if you delight in breaking things :)

If you are up for helping with either of these things, respond in the comments and let me know.

I’d be happy to help. I spend 10-40 minutes a day reading this site in the morning anyway, and I can’t wait to see it. Just a note, this site is great to read with a coffee and a morning smoke.
Let me know, eh?
