Pipe Tobacco Cigarettes

I imagine that it wouldn’t be much “worse”, though pipe tobacco may have more resins and heaver tars than leaf designated for inhaling, which is why some pipe tobacco can be rough on the throat if it is allowed to enter the back of the mouth. Also, most pipe tobacco is not cut or optimized for smoking in cigarette form.

You’d probably be much better off seeking out some of the premium quality brands of hand rolling, shag-cut tobaccos (like Bali Shag or Three Castles) or high grade, crimp-cut tobaccos for stuffing in a tube.

I sometimes roll up my pipe tobacco just for a change of pace and a nice flavor…and here’s what I know…..when I do roll pipe tobacco I don’t smoke alot of them or inhale so much as I would a regular cigarette because I’ve found that I tend to cough ALOT more from inhaled pipe tobacco. I generally smoke aeromatics, though, and they generally have a bit more in them than just tobacco. In my opinion, aeromatic pipe tobacco is quite a bit worse on the lungs than cigarette tobacco.

Hello JoAnn, I tend to smoke too much of my pipe tobacco rolled up. If a tobacco has dried past my liking for a pipe,I save it for my cigarette rolling.For course cut tobaccos just rub it out very fine and let dry if need be.The wetter the tobacco,the looser you have to roll the cigarette.Macbarens Virginia No.1 is a great cigarette tobacco right out of the tin,much better than it is in a pipe.The temperature of a cigarette burning is higher than a pipe temp.,thus changing i.e. diminishing the flavor of the tobak.If you want to use flavored tobacco,I suggest mixing it with a natural tobacco about 50/50.I can not find a study on smoking pipe tobacco in cigarettes,but I believe in the past most pipe tobacco was also advertised as cigarette tobacco. Be careful if the tobacco has latakia.Latakia will be harsh and has little nicatine.

First, let me say the the Gatlin-Burlier site has a great set of facts about cigarettes compared to pipe tobacco.
Second, it seems that the smoke produced from pipe tobacco could not be worse because burning leaf is burning leaf. That having been said, there is the idea of smoking burning paper that has been bleached to become white and using all of the other chemicals found in most filters. It would seem that the question should be if a pipe smoked is better than a cigarette smoked.
In my opinion, when one stops smoking bleach, it’s got to be healthier.
