Sorry for the lack of updates here. I have been busy working on the new site and haven’t had much new news to post.

There are a ton of good ideas in the responses so far to my posts, and I am working to implement as many of them as I can.

Is there anything that we reviewers and users of this site can do to assist in the progress?

Not really, or should I say, not yet.

Right now I am working on the ugly nasty parts of the process, namely building a system to extract all of the data from the current site, transform it into the format I want it in in the new site database and insert it into that database.

The majority of the new site is actually complete (functional code, etc). This Extract, Transform, Load process is the last remaining big hurdle. After that there is not much to do other than make sure everything looks and acts right, and then test everything completely.

When I get to the testing phase, I will be looking for volunteers to help with that process. I will supply a list of Use Cases to test and volunteers can run through those Use Cases and report any problems they encounter (errors, unclear instructions, etc) and when all of the errors are fixed, we can move on to actually switching over to the new site, which will involve not only a switch from one codebase to another but also the moving of the site from one host to another.
